Two

My baby girl turned two on Friday.

Sometimes I am still surprised I have her.

 

 

 

I was 38, had 5 children, my oldest was 15 and was happily doing my foster care work. We had a baby or toddler running around the house all the time. I had my baby fix. I was taking precautions (If you know what I mean). It was medically necessary. My mom parts were damaged from so many c-sections and the doctors had advised me not to have more children.

But God had other ideas.

I would be lying if I said I knew right away. In fact, I had been to the doctor because I didn't feel right. Looking back, I bet He was up there chuckling the way we do when we know a great secret. You would think a woman with 5 children would know the signs....

I finally discovered I was expecting Ellie when I was about 12 or 13 weeks. My excitement clouded with doubts if my body could handle it. But, long, long story short, it did, and here she is turning 2.

So often people say "where has the time gone?" I know where the time has gone. I have loved every minute of raising her. My little unexpected miracle.

Although to be honest, we may have loved her a little too much, she didn't walk until she was 19 months old. It took 3 months of therapy and 2 sets of xrays to determine that the only thing stopping her was 5 older siblings and two older parents.

I never saw myself as an older mom. I had Hannah when I was 23 and Nathan when I was 24. Now will be 50 with a 10 year old. 60 when she is in college.

God better have some big plans for all that.
